Join Us for Worship

The summer days have come again and we continue reading about the travels of Paul in the Acts of the Apostles. Paul and Silas arrive in Philippi and encounter the rich and the poor, the powerful and the weak, the believer and the pagan. Scripture keeps reminding us about people who are ignored and forgotten. Through this we learn about them, about ourselves, and about God.

Scripture Lessons: Acts 16;11-24; Phillipians 1:1-11

Sermon: “The God of the Forgotten”

AFTER WORSHIP THIS MORNING, we will have a special screening of Firmly Planted: Creation Care at Englewood Christian Church, a 30 minute documentary by Sophia Muston (Ray and Linda Muston’s granddaughter) about one congregation’s quest to establish a deep connection with place and care for their neighbors, both congregants and otherwise, in a traditionally disenfranchised neighborhood on the Near Eastside of Indianapolis. In addition to traditional pastoral care and mission work, Englewood Christian Church engages in community development and renewable energy projects that will mitigate climate change risks for future generations living where they do now. PLEASE NOTE—CHILD CARE WILL BE AVAILABLE DURING THIS TIME.

THE CHURCH OFFICE WILL BE CLOSED THIS THURSDAY, JULY 4, in celebration of Independence Day.

SUMMER JAZZ WORSHIP SERVICE—Sunday, July 7, is the last day of the Iowa City Jazz Festival. The Dick Watson Quartet, with Ethan Buck sitting in, will lead a jazz worship service that morning at 10:15.
