ASH WEDNESDAY PANCAKE SUPPER AND WORSHIP SERVICE BEGIN THE SEASON OF LENT ON MARCH 6

Join us for a special Ash Wednesday worship service on Wednesday, March 6 at 7:00 p.m.

Thomas Merton says that Ash Wednesday is for “people who know what it means for their soul to be logged in icy waters: all of us are such people.” This day is for us, with our wintry hearts seeking, as the hymn says, Christ’s warm touch.” The emphasis of this day is on God’s mercy toward us and all creation. We speak tonight of our sin, we hear the call to repentance as ways of bringing us to an awareness of God’s compassionate love. The purpose of the ashes is to help us remember our common humanity. They help us remember that we are mortal, that life is short, that life is precious, and remembering, to focus on what matters: the love that is our origin and our destination.

Join us as we begin a time of basking in the warm rays of God’s mercy.

Our Board of Christian Education is hosting a pancake supper starting at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. It will help with planning if you call the church office (337-4301) to let us know you would like to eat together with us. But feel free to come even if you aren’t able to call in advance.
