AFTER WORSHIP ON SUNDAY, JUNE 30, we had a special screening of Firmly Planted: Creation Care at Englewood Christian Church, a documentary by Sophia Muston, about one congregation’s quest to establish a deep connection with place and care for their neighbors, both congregants and otherwise, in a traditionally disenfranchised neighborhood on the Near Eastside of Indianapolis. In addition to traditional pastoral care and mission work, Englewood Christian Church engages in community development and renewable energy projects that will mitigate climate change risks for future generations living where they do now.
