The sermons on recent Sundays have focused on growth. We’ve heard some parables of Jesus about the slow and certain growth of the realm of God. These parables are echoes of the Old Testament words found in books such as Deuteronomy and the Psalms.

This morning, the scriptures lead us into the tensions and conflicts caused by growth—growing pains. This happened in the early church. It is happening today. There are times when the church needs to take a stand.
