ONLINE WORSHIP

Join us for online worship on Sunday, May 24, at 10:15 a.m. at https://vimeo.com/channels/1547852

This last Sunday of the Easter season is also the Sunday of Memorial Day weekend, a time when we remember the sacrifices of those whose lives ended in war, whose absence from our lives and the life of our nation have been deeply felt and recognized throughout our history.

This year, as we remember the deaths in war there are new deaths that both haunt us and go ignored. This year there is a new and great absence from Covid-19 deaths—more in the past three months than in the whole of the Vietnam War—that weighs on us and our nation.

People are dying, often alone. Each individual death affects family and friends and community, leaving countless people in anguish.

How will we show 100,000 deaths? How will we remember? But the great collective absence that has come to our country is met with silence and ignored.
