Join Us for Worship--Maundy Thursday

Today is Maundy Thursday, the day we remember the meal that Jesus shared with his followers before his death and the commandment that he gave them to love one another. (Maundy is derived from the Latin mandatum, which means “to command.”) Genuine love, one for another, honors others and honors self, respects one another and respects self.

We will gather for a simple meal in Rockwood Hall at 6:00 p.m. This will be followed by worship in the sanctuary at 7:00. Our worship will include scripture lessons, prayers, and special music. We will gather around the Table to celebrate the sacrament of communion. Worship concludes with the Service of Tenebrae as we remember the arrest and crucifixion of Jesus while the light diminishes.

PEASE NOTE: The Iowa City Police Department is allowing “Sunday Parking” on Jefferson St tonight from 5:30 – 8:30.
