Community Bond Project Update

We received the following note from the Eastern Iowa Community Bond Project in response to our gift for their work:

This is wonderful, thank you. We are very grateful for UCCIC's support and it is going to make a huge difference to multiple families in Mt. Pleasant. As I mentioned before, we would be happy to come and share the impact of your donation and some of the things we have learned from the Mt. Pleasant experience at some point in the future.

A brief update for you and the church council: the bond redeterminations for the first 7 workers were completed this morning, and we were very relieved to hear that all of the bonds were reduced from the original $10,000. The redetermined amounts range from $3000 to $7000, which means donors' contributions will go much further.

The EICBP team got to work right away cutting bond checks, which a volunteer will deliver to the ICE office in Omaha tomorrow morning. Another group of volunteers in Mt. Pleasant is mobilizing to go up to Eldora (where all members of this group of workers are detained) to pick workers up tomorrow and/or Friday. Throughout this process we have been keeping in regular contact with all of the families to explain the moving pieces and address their concerns as best we can.

Many thanks again for your support,

Nicole and the EICBP team
