Julie Brown to Speak in Rockwood Hall on December 5

Human Rights Issues in Iraqi Kurdistan: Julie Brown, a member of the Christian Peacemaker Team in Iraqi Kurdistan will speak in Rockwood Hall on Wednesday, December 5, at 7 p.m. Julie is a peace activist and human rights defender, born in rural Iowa and now living in Iraqi Kurdistan.  She will speak about human rights issues in Iraqi Kurdistan, with a large focus on the life of villagers caught in decades of cross-border bombings.  She will touch on the political aftermath of the US occupation and its impact on daily life.  She will challenge us to consider what solidarity from within the US could look like and the role what we as US citizens have.
