This morning, the Congregational UCC Choir and guest harpist Abigail Brower are performing A Festival of Carols by Frank Ferko, a five-movement work for choir and harp. They are joined by some volunteer singers from Cornell College. The work is based on five Christmas carol texts by 19th century American poets and hymn writers, and are not arrangements of previously existing tunes but entirely new melodies and harmonizations with the harp used both an accompanying instrument and as an intrinsic thread within the larger musical fabric.
