ONLINE WORSHIP

Join us for online worship this Sunday, November 29, at 10:15 a.m. at https://vimeo.com/channels/1547852.

You can view and download the bulletin here.

Today is a communion Sunday. Before joining the worship service, you are invited to assemble what you will eat and what you will drink. It can be bread and grape juice or wine or as simple as a cracker or rice cake and water for use in our worship.

Today is also the first Sunday of Advent and we begin our preparations for Christmas. As a church family lights the Advent candle in their home at the beginning of worship, you are invited to light your own candle at home.

Last week I heard Dr. Peter Hotez, co-director of the Center for Vaccine Development at Texas Children's Hospital, talking about the coming Covid-19 vaccines. He was asked about when we would “return to normal,” which is a question that has been on all of our minds for many months now.

He replied: “It’s not going to be a light switch. It’s going to be an evolving process.”

It’s going to be, I thought as I listened, like lighting one candle.

And then light a second.

And a third.

And so on.

As we await a vaccine, the coming months are going to be as we have rehearsed here and in our homes for many years—a gradual dawning of a new day. We have learned to how to wait, to wait actively.
